Re: Happy 26th Anniversary! |
Ashes,
Yes Indeed, that was a magical experience. We drove from the show in Spokane up the Alaska highway to Anchorage, what a great trip. I especially remember the 2nd show, a great "whale" space > truckin>Stella Blue. It was an awesome trip into the great north!! I always felt lucky to have attended those shows in Alaska, and was also lucky enough to catch Jerry for 2 shows in Hawaii for Earth day 1990.

Purple Gel: - Really nice bookends for the decade: Alaska Dead 1980 and Hawaii Jerry 1990 -- Did Hunter open for him?
It's good to hear you had a sweet trip to Anchorage after Seatlle -- the anticipation must have just kept building. Do you remember Jerry playing "Deal" to end the first set a lot during the '81 spring tour? Even occassionally repeating it several shows in a row. As they were tuning near the end of the first set of the first night did you hear the freak scream "No, Jerry, not Deal again.."? Jerry heard him and just glanced over to Weir who stepped up with "The Music Never Stopped." ..not one of the finer moments to be part of the audiense.
Purple Gel: -- keep focusing on all the great memories and phenomenal experiences we all had with this band. Continue to turn people "on" who would otherwise be lost whether they realized it or not. Thanks for reply, - AshesRising
